About
the parade

The communities of Brookline, Dormont, and Mt. Lebanon have been uniting in remembrance since 1934, holding a parade to honor the brave souls who lost their lives in service to our nation. This tradition saw the addition of Beechview in 1950, which ultimately merged with The South Hills Memorial Day Association in the mid-1960s to create a single, more impactful event.

Each year, the parade committee is tasked with the solemn honor of selecting one deceased member from these communities to represent all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. It is important to remember that at least 221 men from our communities have laid down their lives in defense of our freedom. These heroes, along with all who have served, deserve our remembrance, respect, and celebration.

Maintaining the vibrancy of this parade requires collective effort and dedication. As many past participants have moved on or are unable to continue their involvement due to various circumstances, we extend an invitation for new volunteers to step forward. The contributions of many make a significant impact, and your participation can help ensure that this cherished tradition endures.

Your help in volunteering not only aids in the parade's success but also strengthens our collective efforts in supporting those who have served. Join us in this essential endeavor to honor and uplift our heroes.
